Updating error symantec

Rated 4.12/5 based on 894 customer reviews

Windows 10 Defender appears to only be partially disabled during the install of Norton 360.The Windows Defender Services are disabled by stopping them and setting them to Manual but key Windows registry entries appear to be missing. When I run Live Update I get an error message "Updating error: There was an error performing the update." Any suggestions for this kind of issue?Backups to the existing Disk Storage hang in Queued state after installing or updating Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP).I told it to install and when it failed, I had the option to check for updates.

I uninstalled N360 and ran Windows update again thinking all would be well if I just let it do the update and then reinstalled N360. Thanks Bob Windows Defender On a working machine when you scroll to the bottom there is a "Use Windows Defender" link which indicates Defender is currently disabled.Since the suggested solutions didn't work on my new W10 Surface with the same issue using Norton Security, I'm not going to try them on my friend's PC. Hi american121, As peterweb stated above: User Dave33 provided a solution that I just tried and it worked on my system See here.I believe this procedure eliminates the need to reinstall after every Windows Defender Update - as Windows Defender is turned off and will not receive the updates.Regards, RDleo, Symantec Program Manager Additional info for the post from rstaaf on 14 November 2015. I set the ownership back to System after making the value changes to "1".Once I made the changes and rebooted, the entry was still there to update Defender.
